SECAF Member Forum: Labor Regulations Every Government Contractor Must Know
Event: Tuesday, February 9, 2016
Partner Devon Hewitt to moderate panel discussing how new labor regulations have drastically changed the way every government contractor has to do business. The new Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces regulations require disclosure of labor violations during the bidding process and prohibit arbitration of certain employment disputes. The new minimum wage regulations require that contractors pay certain employees (whether they are working on a federal contract or not) higher wages. Other regulations require that contractors attempt to hire veterans and the disabled and that offers of employment be given to an existing workforce when a contractor takes over a new contract, and even change how overtime is treated. Importantly, none of these regulations exempt small businesses.
The distinguished panel, Timothy Helm, Former Chief, US Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, and Roger Jordan, Professional Services Council (PSC), Vice President, Government Relations, will provide an overview of these new requirements and practical information to help small businesses navigate them successfully.
