David Johnson is an attorney in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology Law and Business Transactions practices focusing on trademark and copyright counseling, prosecution, and enforcement. He also works on a wide variety of technology matters, including social media and advertising, privacy, and intellectual property related transactions. David draws on his in-house legal and business experience to partner closely with clients to help them plan for their long-term business goals and tolerances for risk in strategically managing, building, and protecting multi-national intellectual property portfolios. He has experience advising clients ranging from pre-launch start-ups to Fortune 100 companies.
Before joining Protorae Law, David was Counsel & Advisor at a NYC-based intellectual property and business strategic advisory firm, where he worked closely with the internal business and legal teams to counsel clients on the strategic development, protection, and monetization of their U.S. and foreign trademark, copyright, and domain portfolios as well as advising on social media and advertising issues.
David received his Juris Doctorate from William & Mary Law School, where he was Executive Editor of the William & Mary Business Law Review, Staff Editor of the William & Mary Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Conference Journal, and a member of the Business Law Field Consultancy Clinic at William & Mary’s Mason School of Business. During law school, David also completed internships at Under Armour, Inc. and Tough Mudder Inc. David graduated with honors from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.
