Bret Marfut is an associate in the Business Litigation practice at Protorae Law. An experienced litigator, Bret represents sophisticated clients through discovery, motions practice, settlement negotiations, and trial.
Before joining Protorae Law, Bret clerked for the Honorable Elizabeth K. Dillon of the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia and worked as a litigation associate at a boutique government litigation firm in Salem, Virginia. He has experience representing municipalities and state actors in constitutional, employment, procurement, and tort litigation in state and federal courts throughout Virginia.
Bret graduated from Washington and Lee School of Law, where he was active in moot court and was elected president of his law school class. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Christopher Newport University, where he majored in Philosophy and Classical Studies and minored in Leadership Studies.
